When I started looking for a donor a few weeks ago I joined several sites.  They have all been great exept one called sperm donors with a big home made drawing of at the top.

When I posted on there looking for recomendations for a proven donor my thread was deleted but no one told me why.

When I asked someone calling herself Site Admin posted that they deleted it because "Its not a competition" then I said sorry and they posted back "now you know - end of topic".

Then I posted another thread for recipients to support each other and that was deleted too.

I can't understand why anyone would want to stop members of her site finding a good donor or looking to chat to other recipients.

Can anyone fill me in on why this would be?

A website spermdonors.org.uk

I could understand a member was causing trouble but just trying to find a donor or to chat to other recipients.

Does this happen to everyone that uses that site?

It's a bloke?

Fair enough, I just assumed she had had her own baby through donation and wanted to help other women.

I can see that he doesn't like donors that have helped a lot of women but why delete threads by women looking to find a donor?

I am a member of several support groups for health problems I suffer from and on all of these the norm is that posts would only be deleted if they were abusive rather than just if the admin disagreed with the members choices. It would also be made public that the post had been deleted and why and the member would be informed.

I've never heard of a post being deleted if the person is just trying to use the site.

I mean, why start a donation site if you don't want women to find donors or discuss it with other women?

It would seem that you have encountered one of the sperm donation communities most well known and "colourful" characters.

The "Site_Admin" of the site is a guy formerly known on various other sites as Celtic Fox, Mot3, ifyousayso, apple among others...

He (I've never known him to be mistaken for a women before) has been involved over the years in some high profile "discussions", some measured and sensible, others heated and acrimonious (including one particularly vicious falling out with a one time recipients called barb).

Celtic Fox (Site_Admin) was well known for being "anti" things... (usually anti other people's donation choices) and one accusation levelled at him (as by upnorth above) regularly is that he has spent an awful long time being anti things and a very small (if any) amount of time actually donating.

Anyway, that is all ancient history...

As things stand this "colourful character" has reinvented himself as a respectable site owner (and put together a fairly good site to give him credit), however it would appear from what your saying (which is consistent with my own experience) that he struggles to accept that people actually want to *use* his site by posting things and talking to each other(even though he purports to wish to encourage this).

This is not the first time that users of his site have found that their posts have been deleted, that they are "ticked off" when they try to use the site or even that their accounts are deleted if they complain.

Of course Celtic Fox (Site_Admin) would tell you that this is in the name of "protecting" his site against trolling but, if what you're saying is true, the topics you posted sound far from trolling and more like a genuine recipient trying to find a donor and connect with others for support.

I'm sorry this has happened to you. If it's any consolation you are not the first and I doubt you will be the last.

Why would he be against other people's donation choices? That doesn't make sense. It doesn't hurt him.

And I'm not trolling when I post a thread for recipients to support each other. Why would he feel threatened by that?

I've been a member of loads of online support groups and they are usually run by people who want to encourage people to get involved not stop them.

I don't know either...

Logic would dictate that, if someone starts a sperm donation site that they are pretty comfortable with the idea of donation taking place.

Furthermore, logic would also dictate that if someone starts a *discussion* forum regarding that topic that they are pretty relaxed about people discussing stuff.

If they wanted to PREVENT these activities why would they bother? But (if what you're saying is true) that seems to have been your experience.

The equivalent would be a vegetarian who detested the idea of people eating meat opening an abattoir then running a burger restaurant. If they detested these activities so much then you would think they would be better off with a different choice of job / hobby.

Some things never cease to amaze me in the donation world.
